Dell has launched a new notebook aimed at consumers interested in digital video and 3D gaming — in the form of the Inspiron 8600. With configuration prices starting at EUR1799, the new notebook includes a widescreen display, integrated Nvidia graphics with up to 128Mbyte of video memory and Intel Centrino mobile technology, built for mobile computing that offers lower battery consumption and wireless networking support.

The notebook features a 38mm slim design and a Moonlight Silver and Venice Blue colour scheme. It includes Intel’s latest Pentium M processors up to 1.7Ghz and Nvidia GeForce FX Go5650 for high quality graphics.

The Inspiron 8600’s UltraSharp wide aspect (15.4in) screen allows viewing of widescreen movies and enables increased productivity with side-by-side display of documents and Web content. Larger hard drives, up to 80Gbyte, provide enough storage for plenty of large digital media files. All systems include two USB 2.0 ports and one IEEE 1394 port for fast data transfer.

To allow connectivity flexibility, systems can be configured with optional integrated Wi-Fi(r) 802.11b/g and 802.11a/b/g, as well as Bluetooth capabilities. The Inspiron 8600 also comes with QuickSet, a customisable software application that takes the guesswork out of power management settings, system status monitoring, and enlarging icons for high-resolution displays.

The new notebook also comes with Microsoft’s Windows XP Home Edition operating system or Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Works 7.0, and Dell Picture Studio for managing, sharing and printing digital photos.
