Data Solutions has signed a distribution deal to bring the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform to the Irish market for the first time. Nutanix combines server compute with storage in a single hyper-converged appliance, offering much higher performance and scalability for enterprises.

Data Solutions is forecasting additional revenues of €2 million in the first year of the new partnership.

Nutanix provides next generation converged infrastructure to medium and large enterprises which makes scaling the data centre more flexible, predictable and cost effective.

It was founded in 2009 and has already reached a  $1 billion valuation.

Francis O’Haire, director of technology and strategy at Data Solutions, said: “We believe that this partnership will be a huge success for everyone involved. Nutanix has been making waves around the world and as we aim to be at the leading edge of technology, we wanted to bring this innovation to the Irish market. The Nutanix offering complements our existing portfolio of partners, particularly the work we are doing with Citrix around virtual desktop infrastructure.”

Paul Phillips, regional director at Nutanix, added: “As we seek to expand our presence across Europe, Data Solutions is an obvious partner for us as it understands how to build, maintain and grow our channel and will help us to gain a significant foothold in the Irish market.

“Many of our engineers designed and built the infrastructures of the big cloud and Web companies, including the architects who created the Google File System. With the Data Solutions partnership we can now provide the scalability and performance capabilities, found in some of the world’s largest and most efficient data centres, to mainstream enterprises in Ireland.”
