Connected: DIT’s Paul Flynn, centre, flanked by Damovo’s Mary Bradshaw and Mike Parton
Enterprise ICT solutions and service provider Damovo Ireland has won a three-year contract to provide Dublin Institute of Technology with a managed and monitored infrastructure solution across 38 locations in Dublin. The deal is worth about €100k.
DIT’s 10 Gigabit network is being optimised by Damovo to enhance collaboration, research and e-learning opportunities for more than 2,000 staff and 20,000 students.
The IP network provides an essential online platform for lecturers and students to share study notes, videos and lecture materials. It is also used to deploy cloud-based applications, including an iPhone application – developed by DIT – about college life.
DIT’s director of finance and resources, Paul Flynn, notes: “We need a high-performance IP infrastructure that meets all the exacting demands of our students, lecturers, researchers and industry partners. Our choice of IT partner is therefore integral to our development.”
Damovo Group CEO Mike Parton, said Damovo plays a strong role in the Irish educational sector, where “it provides local universities and colleges with next-generation, collaborative platforms which will enable them to compete successfully on the international stage.”
Damovo Ireland MD Mary Bradshaw said DIT’s choice of Damovo to manage its network infrastructure “is testament to our new customer-centric approach which promises a level of value and service rarely seen in the Irish communications industry.”
