Next step: Computerlinks’ David Ellis
Value-add distributor Computerlinks has launched its Alvea Infrastructure enterprise cloud services in the UK and Ireland following the signing of an agreement with cloud hosting provider OpSource.
Computerlinks can now provide channel partners with cloud-based solutions designed to meet enterprise-level requirements for security, control, performance and ease of integration that they in turn can deliver to their clients.
The announcement follows Computerlinks ‘ recent remodelling of its business to deliver margin-rich services to its channel partners around new and emerging technologies such as virtualisation, cloud computing and IP-based physical security.
Alvea Infrastructure consists of three components
• cloud servers, which are virtual machines that sit on top of a physical server using a VMware hypervisor for virtualisation
• cloud files, which provide an internet-based file storage solution designed to allow secure storage and retrieval of data
• cloud networks, which is a virtual LAN-based network that interconnects cloud servers within Alvea Infrastructure.
Alvea Infrastructure will allow resellers to offer their clients highly available data centre facilities that meet or exceed The Uptime Institute’s Tier III standards.
Benefits include infrastructure provisioning in minutes, on-demand provision, deployment and management of the it infrastructure, ‘pay-as-you-go’ or monthly payment plans with detailed usage reporting, centralised control with role-based access, multiple levels of security from data centre to applications, and 24 x 7 telephone support with ticketing/status tracking.
David Ellis, director of new technologies and services at Computerlinks, notes: “Alvea Infrastructure is the next logical step in Computerlinks’ evolution as a next generation distributor. It will give our partners the means to develop new revenue opportunities from a rapidly growing part of the market, with no up-front investment in technology, resource, legal documentation or marketing. We are confident it will provide a major boost to the channel.”
