Microsoft has appointed the managing director of its EMEA Operations Centre to take over the top job in Ireland following the promotion of long-serving Microsoft Ireland managing director Joe Macri to lead the vendor’s business and marketing operations in Western Europe.
Paul Rellis is in the process of meeting the software giant’s channel partners after taking over the Microsoft Ireland managing director title last month. In his previous position, Rellis oversaw channel partners, supply chain, finance and order management across 131 countries. He will assume responsibility for the business in Ireland and will “represent Microsoft on all strategic site wide issues, including policy and communications matters”. Rellis was also expected to take over the presidency of the American Chamber of Commerce of Ireland this month.
Meanwhile Macri, who has been managing director of Microsoft Ireland since 2001, will take control of the vendor’s business and marketing operations across 12 countries in Western Europe, including Ireland. In a statement, Pierre Liautaud, vice president of Western Europe said he was “delighted to have someone with Paul’s calibre assume the helm at Microsoft Ireland”. He said Rellis’s operational experience would “be invaluable in our efforts to continue to enhance our customer and partner experience”.
Liautaud added that Macri’s “significant skills and expertise from his successes in Ireland” would now be used for “the benefit of multiple markets rather than just one”.
