Vendor lock-in can be constricting in the short term but a vigilant approach to contracts can ultimately lead to better run IT estates, the TechFire webinar will hear.

Using the burning question ‘Do you have an open relationship with your cloud partner’, experts from NTT Data and Bank of Ireland will share their experiences keeping all options on the table to simplify IT estates or diversify to suit different functions and applications.

Michael O’Reilly, EMEA chief technology officer with NTT DATA, will be joined by Ronan Hughes, principal architect for core banking at Bank of Ireland to discuss the market for and experience of lock-in.

“New features, application and data portability and scale all play a part in selecting a cloud partner,” said Niall Kitson, editor of TechCentral.ie and chair of the TechFire webinar series.

“The term ‘lock-in’ has negative conotations but if all your needs are being met by a single provider then it’s not something to be concerned about. I’m sure there are plenty of experiences to the contrary and I’m looking forward to hearing about them from our panelists and audience on 31 May.”
