Say goodbye to the little powerhouse – Apple doesn’t seem keen on reviving the beloved iPhone mini anytime soon. After discontinuing the iPhone 13 mini in September 2023, marking the end of an era for compact iPhones, fans are now yearning for its return.
The iPhone mini first made waves in 2020 as the smaller sibling of the base model iPhone 12. Its successor, the iPhone 13 mini, arrived in 2021 but was unfortunately not included in the iPhone 14 lineup. This absence is felt by many Apple users, especially now that we’ve gone three generations without this pocket-friendly option.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, during a recent live Q&A session, Apple has no plans to bring back the mini iPhone for at least the next few years. This news comes as a blow, especially given the discontinuation of the iPhone SE 3, leaving no iPhone models under 6″ available directly from Apple.
The recently launched iPhone 16e features a 6.1″ display, housed in a frame measuring 5.78×2.82″. In comparison, the iPhone 13 mini, with its 5.4″ screen, measures a compact 5.18×2.53″, while the discontinued iPhone SE 3 fell somewhere in between with a 4.7″ screen due to its home button design.
