Memrise
For: iOS, Android
This app claims to have a system for learning languages that can have you picking up new words at a rate of 44 per hour. The rationale behind the app is based on scientific techniques designed to improve your memory developed by University College London. If you’re not convinced of your progress you can check back using games.

Calm
For: iOS, Android
This meditation app comes with a seven-day course teaching you how to meditate and a bunch of guided sessions ranging in length from two to 30 minutes with a choice of either music or ambient noise backing. Should you want to go beyond that there is a premium option with additional audio tracks, a 21-day in-depth course and more with new content constantly added.

Freeletics
For: iOS, Android
This workout app wants to replace your gym with targeted workouts that use your own bodyweight as resistance and a community of millions to motivate you and ‘compete’ against in reaching your fitness goals.
The app comes with 700 workout variations and slow motion instructional videos to make sure you are exercising properly and a personalised training plan. The by now standard options to share your results to social networks and leader boards are also included.
