Airbnb is to create 100 jobs at its base in Ringsend, Dublin. Founded in 2008, the hospitality website lets users rent out their spare rooms to travellers.

The new jobs in customer experience and hospitality will bring the company’s headcount in Ireland to 200.

The importance of high growth companies, like Airbnb, expanding their international operations at an early stage has never been greater.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Speaking at the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said: “As part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs we have sought to encourage more ‘born-on-the-Internet’ companies to locate operations in Ireland, and over the past two years we have seen some major successes in this. Today’s announcement that Airbnb, a massive Internet name and a fast-growing global company, is expanding its operations in Dublin and creating 100 jobs is great news.”

Airbnb has over 500,000 listings in 33,000 cities in 192 countries. It has a valuation of approximately $10 billion.
