Siemens is due to launch its first VoIP/DECT Dual Mode cordless phone in Ireland that allows callers to phone fixed networks make internet telephony calls without the need for a PC being turned on. This is a revelation in the phone world and one, which will save both companies and consumers on their phone bills. Calls made with the VoIP provider’s network are generally free and for overseas/long distance connections users will discover a significant reduction in costs using this VoIP phone. The Siemens Gigaset C450 IP is one of the first cordless hybrid phone and available in Irish stores.
Essentially VoIP is a way of making phone calls over the Internet using your broadband connection instead of the landline. But with this VoIP phone users don’t even need to be near a PC. It operates like a traditional cordless phone but has a LAN port as well as a fixed network socket enabling subscribers to enjoy attractively priced Internet telephony conveniently without a PC being turned on.
This innovative Siemens VoIP/DECT telephone also offers many convenient functions such as a colour display, SMS, storage for frequently called numbers, and a hands-free facility. The provider settings are simply selected from the handset’s menu and loaded automatically. Especially attractive for families is the fact that up to six handsets can be operated with one base station.
The Gigaset C450 IP will be in stores by October 2006 and available for €129.95.
