PopCap Games have announced that they are seeking to recruit a ‘zombie’ and a ‘sunflower’. The Dublin based video-games company certainly know how to raise eyebrows with their job titles, yet their job descriptions are equally as bizarre. Successful candidates will be charged with bringing the un-dead to life and sunshine to the masses by playing Plants vs. Zombies in real life.

PopCap’s new recruits will be taking to the streets at a series of public games events throughout the year. Dipping into reality PopCap have noted that while zombies are renowned for their love of brains, it is not a requisite for the job, equally applicants for the sunflower role will not be expected to produce sunshine, although that would be an advantage.

Cathy Orr, senior director of international PR at PopCap remarked that, “It is a fun opportunity for the right individuals to showcase their acting talents, create some buzz and most of all, have fun!” Orr added that, “when it came to casting Plants vs. Zombies characters, we decided that it makes sense for us to cast the net wide and go anywhere and everywhere to make sure we get the right cultural fit.”

Closing dates for entries is 15 June. PopCap are also seeking applicants for a range of other positions, most notably a java engineer, three C++ developers, an iOS producer, a game designer, a social localization project manager, a web/graphic designer and a security intern.
