Take a hike! But are you up to the challenge?

Oxfam wants suits in boots to help raise a bit of dust – and much-needed money for the international charity.

Corporate teams for this year’s 100km walking endurance challenge should be ready to take a hike on the first weekend of next month, September 4 and 5. Trailtrekker teams of four will set out to complete a 100km cross-border trek inside 36 hours, with teams raising at least €2,000 in sponsorship to help Oxfam Ireland’s work in Africa.

And Oxfam points out that there’s more than just blisters to be gained by employees taking part. Benefits of the Suits in Boots campaign include

• a fundraising challenge to provide financial experience
• improved health and fitness, reducing absenteeism

The event is also sponsored by sports retailer Surf Mountain, and supported by Down District Council, Newry and Mourne District Council, Louth County Council, Carlingford Adventure Centre and Louth Local Sports Partnership, with extreme sports magazine
