The backup telecoms service, which represents an investment of €100,000 by BWG, is expected to deliver immediate cost savings of 33% and to improve performance.

Complete Telecom says its 3G service offers download speeds of 14.4 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 Mbps.

Sales director Neil Wisdom notes: “Following a network re-design and configuration of routers to automatic failover by our technical team, we migrated all 22 Value Centres to the new service.”

Wisdom said the wireless system means BWG has no worries about ground cables being damaged. “Reception is enhanced by a small 3G antenna on each building.”

BWG Foods’ Veronica Sullivan, head of IT, for said: “A reliable service was our primary concern when selecting a backup telecoms provider.” She said the distribution supply chain for wholesale customers is controlled by ERP, “our mission-critical application.”

“As such it is essential for our business to have a back-up service that we can trust.”

The food firm’s IT operations manager, Frank Byrne, said efficient project management was another critical factor in the overall site migration plan. “The team at Complete Telecom provided end-to-end project management for the deployment, allowing our IT operations team to continue with their daily tasks without having to get heavily involved in the project.”

Established in 2001, Complete Telecom has invested €3.5 million in its own fibre MAN and serves customers across the public and private sectors.
