UPC Ireland today announced its first quarter results ended 31 March. During the first quarter UPC added a further 24,300 subscriptions for its fibre-powered broadband, TV and phone services across its home and business divisions.

Compared to the same quarter a year ago total subscriptions increased by 7% or 71,400 to 1,084,000.

Some 348,300 broadband subcriptions were reported, a 10% increase over the same quarter last year. The company also claimed a 23% increase in the number of home phone subscriptions to 313,000. Digital cable TV subscriptions grew by only 0.2% over the same period last year to 339,000.

Carol Grennan, CFO, UPC Ireland, said: “We have made a great start to the year driven by steady demand for our fibre power services and the launch of several innovative new products. Our positive momentum is continuing with growth in subscriptions across digital video, high-speed Internet and business services.”
