There are a number of free translators on the Web, but they tend to offer a very static approach to translation. After all, linguistics is about so much more than logical grammar patterns such as idioms, slang, multiple meanings to the same word and other challenges.
Aiming to improve understanding is Translution Pro. It promises to translate between English and French, German, Italian and Spanish and provides the option to not translate certain types of words (Christian names and place names, for example). Combining these features, Translution Pro promises to offer very accurate and automatic translations of e-mails, documents and web pages.
The software is designed to enable people to communicate in different languages too. For example, a person writing an e-mail in English to colleagues in France and Spain could have e-mails automatically translated before reaching the recipient’s inbox. Similarly, incoming e-mails can be translated into the user’s own language, with a copy of the original e-mail attached.
When e-mails are replied to or forwarded, the text will be translated from the original to minimise confusion when e-mails are sent back and forth between speakers of different languages. In short it avoids having to copy and paste information between applications.
The vendor says that the software is compatible with Outlook e-mail, Word documents and Internet Explorer web pages. When surfing the Web, pressing the Translution button will display a page in whatever language is understood, retaining original graphics and layout.
