Think tank calls for IT sector to bolster economy

A forum hosted by it@cork European Tech Cluster on how to boost employment in the technology sector will be held on Tuesday 26 June. The event, ‘Eliminating the budget deficit and building the skills pipeline’, will focus on proposals about how the IT sector can help create jobs in multiple industries and reduce the country’s budget deficit.

Speakers at the event will include Denis Collins, IBM and chairman it@cork, European tech cluster, Bob Savage, vice president and general manager, EMC and Sean O’Sullivan, managing director of Avego.

Recent research from PwC will be used to outline the opportunity that exists to allow Ireland benefit from bringing the top technology talent to the country. Research shows that for every experienced technology position, multiple jobs are created in the local area.
