Digital Realty Trust (DRT) has launched a service aimed at firms that would like to own a data centre but lack the necessary skills and experience.
The new offering, called POD Architecture Services, can also provide design and construction services to firms that own or want to own their own data centre facility and which would like to leverage DRT’s data centre expertise and resources.
The service will enable customers to license DRT’s data centre design packages, benefit from the firm’s procurement supply chain, and use the DRT team’s proven Gating Process, allowing for enterprise control throughout the construction process.
The new service is managed by Michael Manos, who has recently joined DRT as senior vice president of technical services.
Manos notes: “These services fill a gap in the market between a pure do-it-yourself approach and leasing wholesale space from an outsourced provider.”
He said many firms wanted their own data centre but lacked the required skills and experience. “By using DRT’s POD Architecture Services, those firms can keep ownership of the facility and the process while dramatically reducing the risks, costs and timeline by working with a team that has built hundreds of data centres around the world.”
DRT owns, acquires, redevelops, develops and manages technology-related property.
