The awards were given at a ceremony in the headquarters of the main sponsors of the TeachNet project, Citigroup, in the IFSC. 

Over the coming months, the programme, hosted by St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, will provide professional development and mentoring support to 50 teachers in web-technology and the creation of web-based projects.  Over the past six years, the TeachNet Programme has resulted in the creation of over 250 educational projects which are available, free of charge, at Teachnet.ie. The projects cover a wide range of subjects across the curriculum. 

The winner of the Microsoft Innovative Teacher programme, which is delivered in partnership with TeachNet also received their award at today’s ceremony. The winning project, “Touching Hearts” is a Photo Story creation which compares school life in Tanzania with that of primary school children in Our Lady of Mercy Primary School in Sligo.  “Touching Hearts” was premiered at today’s ceremony.
