Sensory, scientific and consumer research firm SRL Research has merged with Independent Sensory Services. The partnership will strengthen SRL Research’s position in both Irish and international markets, and enable the company to drive efficiencies in costs and human resources. The new entity will operate in two locations, including a new office located in gatewayUCC.

Founded in 2002 by Margaret Shine, SRL Research has grown from a Genesis start-up at the Rubicon Centre, Cork to an internationally traded services company with an impressive portfolio of global leaders in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors. Prior to the merger, SRL Research employed 27 people, which will now grow to 35.

Margaret Shine, managing director, SRL Research, said: “This is an exciting time for SRL Research; the merger with ISS enables us to consolidate our position in the Irish market, while also increasing our resources and abilities to meet sustained growth internationally.”

ISS, founded by Dr Liz Sheehan in 2005, works specifically with food and beverage companies based in Ireland.

“Sensory research plays a huge part in the success of a new product when it hits the market”, said Dr Sheehan. “Multi-million dollar and euro decisions are based on the sensory research services we provide to industry. This partnership positions us for sustained growth, and enables us to meet growing market demand, while continuing to provide the highest quality services using the latest developments in technology and testing.”
