Spotify has launched a new feature that uses artificial intelligence to put together personalised playlists. Starting with users on Android and iOS devices in the United Kingdom and Australia, the new feature relies on prompts typed into the app’s chat function.

Spotify has been launching new features on a regular basis lately and is relying more on artificial intelligence. For example, Spotify recently launched AI DJ. And now it is also launching ‘AI Playlist,’ a personalized playlist created based on a prompt.

Queries can refer to places, animals, activities, movie characters, colours and even emojis. It’s recommended that you combine genres, moods, artists and/or decades in your query.

For example, according to Spotify, you could ask for ‘relaxing music to help during allergy season’, ‘a playlist that makes me feel like the main character, or ,an indie folk playlist to give my brain a big, warm hug,.

AI Playlist will then combine your personal data with your request to create a personalised playlist.

The new feature is only available to users in Australia and the United Kingdom with premium subscriptions. Spotify will continue to improve this feature in the coming months and then make it available to all paying users. When that will be has not yet been announced.
