IBM’s Client Security Software Version 3.0 simplifies several PC security tasks, including support for optional fingerprint readers and proximity badges to verify user identity and help protect confidential information; easier file and folder encryption; and elimination of the need to carry a separate key fob to generate codes for Virtual Private Networks.

Client Security Software Version 3.0 is also compatible with IBM’s Tivoli security management software, which allows organisations to control access to applications and data based on security policies and rules. Version 3.0 provides local file encryption for securing critical files and administration utilities for managing cryptographic keys.

Version 3.0 is now also compatible with Ensure Technologies’ XyLoc wireless PC security solution. XyLoc locks a PC when the authorized user walks away, and unlocks it when they return by continuously monitoring the location of a wireless proximity badge.

Version 3.0 is now interoperable with RSA Security’s RSA SecurID two-factor authentication solution, available separately, which requires users on a Virtual Private Network to identify themselves using, for example, a code or PIN and something they have, such as a key fob authenticator or smart card.
