Speed freak: Sharkoon’s Flexi-Drive Extreme Duo has a claimed transfer speed of up to 130MB/s

Sharkoon has unveiled a USB3 flash drive with a claimed read/write speed of up to 130MB/s. The new device has a capacity of 16GB, though more capacious drives will undoubtedly follow.

The Flexi-Drive Extreme Duo is backward compatible with USB 1.0 and 2.0, and is supported by Mac OS 10, Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 as well as Linux.

Sharkoon claims to be a pioneer in the USB 3.0 area, and this is the firm’s first memory stick in the new high-speed standard.

The maker says an integrated USB3.0 controller manages two SLC-based DDR NAND components with its dual channel mode to achieve its performance, adding that the device “can be completely filled within less than two minutes.”

The drive is housed in an elegant black aluminium casing with transparent protective cap and a keychain eyelet. It measures 21 x 9 x 68 mm, weighs 12.4g.
