Nail that dodgy quotation: The new service offers many possibilities
An Irish firm has launched a new mobile phone service that enables callers to record their phone conversations.
RecordMyCall.ie points out that the service could come in handy in a situation where, for example, a verbal price quotation given over the phone turns out to be different at payment stage.
The provider says the cloud-based service requires no purchase or equipment installation, and works from mobiles and landlines.
RecordMyCall.ie also allows the recording of meetings or the dictation of notes. This facility is aimed at solicitors and journalists, among other professional users.
Recordings can be immediately e-mailed for dictation and backup, eliminating the need to return to the office with a Dictaphone.
In addition, users can have all their voice-mails e-mailed to them so that they listen to messages at their convenience.
The voice-mail service is operational across O2, Vodafone, Meteor, Three and Tesco Mobile.
Users register by using a mobile phone to call (01) 5242 171. RecordMyCall sends you a welcome text – you reply with your e-mail address, and all recordings are automatically sent in standard MP3 format to your e-mail address.
Recordings are securely encrypted, and users must comply with the Irish Data Regulator’s rules.
The company behind the service says there are no monthly or annual fees. Cost of using the service ranges from 1 cent per minute to record a meeting or dictate notes, to 10 cent a minute to record a landline call, to 25 cent per minute for recording a voice-mail message. Users can top up their credit by phone.
