Secure access in a memory stick

Osmosis Ireland has won an exclusive distribution agreement with The Key Revolution, the company behind Mobiu, a USB stick modified to provide portable secure access.

The Mobiu is a USB stick embedded with Vodafone patented technology. It stores all the software required to remotely access documents and is secured by the SIMAssured chip-and-pin technology similar to that used by banks and mobile phone operators for secure user authentication.

The chip-and-pin device ensures tamper-proof access to files, data and applications from any online computer running Windows XP or Vista, leaving no trace behind.

The ability to ‘remote kill’ the device if it is detected on an online PC is now a simple reality, preventing unwanted third-party access to information. Mobiu comes with a MobiVault of 5GB storage as standard, together with functionality aimed at simplifying file sharing and collaborative working using the shared workspaces or “MobiRooms”.

Adrian Burholt, CEO of The Key Revolution noted: “As businesses look for ways to survive and grow through the current economic climate, increasing mobility capability without compromising on security could make a big difference. We hope Irish businesses will see Mobiu as an innovative and cost effective way to enhance their operations.”

Osmosis MD Brian Honan said the partnership offers Osmosis an opening to expand into the area of mobility for remote workers. “We believe the Mobiu can be just as successful in Ireland as it has been throughout the UK, and we are delighted to kick off 2009 with such an innovative new product.”
