Sage Ireland has launched Sage Payment Solutions to help cut the number of cheque-based transactions in the SME sector, says the maker, which has integrated electronic payment technology into its Sage 50 accounting packages.
The firm’s product manager, Jessica McIntire, noted: “In today’s business climate where SMEs are increasingly concerned about electronic uncertainty, companies are scrutinising their processes to see where improvements can be made.”
She added: “We have entered the card processing market because we believe it’s a good fit with our ethos of supporting SMEs to manage their cash flow and grow their businesses.”
Sage Payment Solutions allows users to accept credit and debit card payments from within Sage 50 while automatically updating the accounts. Users can take customer details and create invoices at the same time as talking with the customer on the phone and processing their order. The system offers secure and instant validation to reduce the risk of card fraud. In addition, users can manage transactions, run transaction reports and reconcile payments with their bank account.
To ensure security, customer card details are entered on a secure payment page, and no cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted. In addition, payment functionality can be restricted to approved staff.
Users wanting to accept orders via telephone, fax or mail order need an internet connection and to upgrade to Sage 50 2008.
