Rhapsody for a stream

Life

1 April 2005

Rhapsody is offering unlimited streaming (as opposed to a downloads) on-demand playback for a monthly fee, but the service has yet to join forces with a major record company.

It also offers free Internet radio from more than 50 stations, the ability to create and share play-lists and to view editorial reviews.

The service offers three different subscription options: $5.95 for either the ‘Sampler’ program, which offers users choices from a range of catalogues of varying musical genres, such as rock, blues, country and electronica; there is also a ‘Naxos Classical’ catalogue, which offers classical music from the Naxos of America label, while the ‘Sampler Plus’ option combines all catalogues into a single subscription service for $7.95 a month.
