Refilling is far less expensive than buying a new cartridge and there is no perceptible difference in quality. That’s according to ink cartridge refiller Cartridge World.

Cartridge World has 40 stores nationwide and the company claims that it can take a certain branded cartridge costing €38.50 to buy  new and that it will cost only around €19.00 to refill.   The company estimates that a print cartridge can be refilled about 15 times usually.

As a marketing initiative that promotes the green benefits of refilling cartridges, the company has set up The Cartridge World Recycling Partnership and the idea is to introduce Irish schools to the substantial benefits of refilling in money and waste reduction terms.

The school benefits when teachers and students place reusable empty print cartridges in the school’s Cartridge World container or when they refill empty print cartridges at a participating Cartridge World store.  Every approved refill generates €1 for their school.   The store manager keeps a spreadsheet of these transactions and the money generated is paid to the school at the end of each term.

Associates of the school can also donate unwanted empty reusable cartridges to a participating Cartridge World store and again if they are usable each cartridge will generate €1 for the school.  The company calims that there are some schools already signed up around the country and that it is an excellent way for associates to generate funds for the schools and for children and teens to play an active role in helping to reduce waste and recycle.
