Headset maker Plantronics has appointed Sharptext as distributor of its new range of wireless, mobile and computer headsets.

Paul Dunne of Plantronics said telephone headset use is increasing in the Irish workplace as the benefits of wireless communication become clearer. ‘Sharptext has a particularly strong dealer base and we are confident that the company is the right distribution partner to meet this increasing demand.’

Emer Breathnach, marketing director at Sharptext, said headsets represented a lucrative revenue stream for its customers.  ‘We see the market for headsets opening up well beyond the traditional call centres and into businesses in general, which is becoming especially relevant with the requirement for hands-free in-car communications.’

Plantronics, a publicly head company that employs 2,700 people worldwide, introduced the first lightweight communications headset in 1962 and is regarded as a leading maker of communications headsets.
