Age Action Ireland, Arc Cancer, Barretstown, Foroige and Young Social Innovators will each receive approximately €5,500 through PayPal Gives.

The charities were nominated by PayPal employees at its Blanchardstown and Dundalk offices.

Through the initiative, PayPal supports, the Irish communities in which it operates. Over the past 12 months, it has donated a total of €120,000 to Irish charities.

PayPal has 27 Give teams distributing approximately $700,000 in grants this year. The Give Team grants in Ireland were presented to the chosen charities by Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal, and Louise Phelan, PayPal’s vice president of global operations, EMEA.

“At PayPal, we firmly believe in making the world a better place and are constantly focused on helping charities and communities across the globe,” said Schulman. “I’m very proud to witness first-hand the great work being carried out in Ireland by PayPal, and it’s been a real privilege to meet each of the wonderful charities. I hope that our support can help to make a real and lasting difference for each of these organisations.”

Rachel Collier, CEO, Young Social Innovators, said: “We are delighted to receive this support which will offer increased opportunities to young people in the local communities in which PayPal are based. Engaging young people in social innovation not only benefits communities but it builds 21st century skills bridging a gap between education and work which is to the benefit of everyone.”
