Notebook manufacturer Asus has named Sharptext as its official distribution partner for the Irish market. Asus is the fifth largest notebook brand in EMEA, making this a significant deal for Sharptext.

The firm will distribute the full range of Asus notebooks and so-called netbooks, covering both business and retail machines.

The Asus range embraces a comprehensive selection of notebooks, from slimmed-down entry level machines to high end designer models such as the Lamborghini.

One of the newest and most exciting models to come from Asus is the Eee PC, a netbook with 1.3 megapixel camera, wireless internet access, up to 20GB of storage and an 8.9″ screen – all in a package weighing under a kilo.

Asus market development director Steven Tien said his firm sees “great potential for future growth” through Sharptext. “Given (Sharptext’s) well established IT customer base, we are confident we can achieve much broader access to our product range”.

Sharptext’s commercial director, Emer Breathnach, noted: "Asus have an enviable reputation in the market for innovation and reliability. This brand is a great addition to our line-up, and means we can provide our resellers with a complete notebook offering.”
