Nortel Networks has made enhancements to its portfolio of security products designed to provide increased network protection, improved performance, scalability and simpler administration.
These enhancements include Nortel’s Alteon Security Manager, a new system that consolidates configuration, management and monitoring of the multiple security appliances and embedded security tools typically used to safeguard networking and applications infrastructure.
Also included in the range is the Alteon Firewall 5109 for small- and medium-sized businesses, and new software releases for the Alteon Switched Firewall System.
Nortel Networks Alteon Firewall 5109 is a non-accelerated firewall that provides gigabit throughput for small- and medium-sized businesses. The device is based on Check Point’s FireWall-1 software.
Alteon Security Manager enables multiple security devices such as the Alteon Switched Firewall family to be controlled from a single device that presents a common interface for ‘one-stop’ security management.
The tool has features that can automatically detect security devices in the network and provide a common status report. It automatically performs tasks such as configuration of each security appliance and each product in a security cluster — which previously needed the involvement of security professionals.
