CloudStrong is an Irish company that has become the leading provider of hosted cloud solutions over the last four years. It has pioneered hosted multi-tenant infrastructure and provides enterprise solutions with its unique Customised Desktop-as-a-Service (cDaaS) and Cloud Server suite of services designed for SMEs and larger organisations.

CloudStrong works exclusively with channel partners. As we are architects and specialists in both public and private cloud solutions, this allows our partners to have full control over their clients’ cloud infrastructural design and setup. This is a key selling point for our services because we recognise that even the smallest firms have some special requirements or legacy technology that needs to be considered.

With offices in Galway and Castlebar and a new Dublin office opening soon, we are particularly aware of the requirements, the style of doing business and above all, the challenges facing Irish enterprises across the country. Our cloud solutions are 100% tailored to the particular client and its needs and resources.

CloudStrong’s solutions are a couple of generations ahead of the early days of public cloud. In the early days the dominant market pitch was huge cost savings through shared infrastructure. Now with some years’ experience we know that there are much more significant business benefits. We find from our clients that reliability and agility are at the top of the list, allowing for a greater speed to market. Mobility is also a huge benefit in modern business requiring anywhere, anytime access to data and applications.

On the security front, our experience is that a cloud solution can in fact offer superior security to traditional on-premise IT, largely because it is so much easier to manage across all of the digital activity of the organisation and its users.

Our top end services are our virtual desktops and cloud servers, bundled in an enterprise grade offering we have branded the CloudStrong Chameleon. We refer to our virtual desktops as Customisable DaaS because they bring unique benefits compared to other service models that make for more robust solutions. Our cDaaS does not pretend to be one that competes with the traditional model on costs, although we believe it is reasonably priced. It does so on the technical capabilities and features that underpin agility and customised answers to the client’s needs today—which can be changed easily tomorrow.  That is why our overall brand is now CloudStrong Chameleon: it can adapt to your business environment, your departments and your individual users’ needs because it is totally customisable.

Another relevant aspect is the hybrid approach, as SMEs and enterprises mix and match public clouds and local IT assets to get the best value for their budgets. Considering compliance issues, performance requirements and security restrictions, the need for top quality local service is a fact of Irish business life. We embrace these challenges and work together with partners and their clients to ensure the optimum solution is put in place.

One major driver which will speed cloud migration is the end-of-life of the Microsoft Server 2003 by July 2015, directly affecting about 27,000 expiring servers in Ireland. Organisations have to strategically plan for what happens after the server support from Microsoft ceases. We believe the natural progression will be to a cloud solution, whether taking a public, private or hybrid approach.

To help businesses move to a hosted environment, CloudStrong is offering an incentive in the form of a new Server Scrappage Scheme (www.sss.ie). The ‘Scrappage’ part is virtual, because of course we do not want to accumulate a warehouse full of obsolete servers. What we will give you is a serious cash incentive to make the transition to a cloud server that could be worth up to €6,000. Feedback from partners and end-users alike has been extremely positive and we expect many Irish SMEs and enterprises to take advantage of this offer over the coming year.
