The National Digital Research Centre (NDRC) and Microsoft Ventures are working together to help entrepreneurs in Ireland launch world-class businesses.

Under the new partnership, NDRC will bring its expertise in commercialising successful digital start-ups. Microsoft Ventures will provide start-ups with mentors, support and access to technical and business talent, as well as potential access to a global investor network.

NDRC startups will also gain access to the latest technology and services provided by Microsoft including access to experts across Microsoft’s full range of technologies. Microsoft Ventures will also have a hotdesk at NDRC for visiting technologists and mentors.

Speaking at NDRC offices, Clare Dillon, developer lead at Microsoft Ireland, said: “Having worked with NDRC for many years through Microsoft’s BizSpark programme, which has provided support to more than 1,000 start-ups from Ireland, we are delighted to be able to announce this partnership. We look forward to working with NDRC and the Irish start-up community to help emerging businesses succeed in a global marketplace.

Ben Hurley, CEO, NDRC, said: “This new global partnership with Microsoft Ventures is a major endorsement of NDRC’s work and of the highly qualified, seed investor ready start-ups we are enabling to bring their innovations to market.

“NDRC is an important component in the global innovation ecosystem where we are focused on the creation of market capital by building high-impact ventures.”

Andy McCartney, CEO in residence at Microsoft Ventures, said: “We connect with entrepreneurial communities all over the world and NDRC is a prime example of the type of accelerator who we seek to partner with based on their excellent expertise, experience and achievements in bringing innovative new businesses towards market success. This partnership ties in closely with our mission to foster world class innovation and investment opportunities which create long term economic value.”
