The National Digital Research Centre (NDRC) has launched FutureHealth a pre-accelerator programme for start-ups in the healthcare technology space.

FutureHealth is a pre-accelerator that will enable clinicians, researchers and entrepreneurs to come together, form teams and build a commercial proposition and a convincing investment case.

Through the programme, the successful start-up ideas will get access to leading mentors from the health sciences, technology entrepreneurs and the investment community; a process to test their ideas; and time and space to meet and work with potential teams.

NDRC has worked with and invested in over 20 healthcare ventures to date, including SilverCloud Health, PharmaPod, Clearsight Innovation and MuteButton.

NDRC CEO Ben Hurley explained: “With FutureHealth we want to enable health sector start-ups with a digital heartbeat to change the world.

“We established the model for pre-accelerator activities and believe it is ideal for creating a dynamic, health-tech venture that disrupts the market. With a focus on team-formation and market validation, early customer development and pre-venture investment, it is built to bring through ventures which can disrupt health sciences.

“Working in partnership with UCD and our sponsors, we will unearth additional new health sciences ventures with global potential.”

Ten places are being offered with applications open until 15 January. Visit www.ndrc.ie/futurehealth for more information.
