Micro music

The San Disk Cruzer Micro is a solid state memory MP3 player. It’s small enough to fit discreetly in your pocket but comes with enough memory to hold about two CDs worth of music. The music is held on a removable 128Mbyte USB memory key that has a flashing blue LED light built in.

The device is so simple to use that most people won’t even need to read the manual. Slot the USB key into a port on your computer, drag and drop your chosen music files onto it and away you go — it really is that simple. The Cruzer has a simple but effective user interface. You can navigate through your folders by toggling and clicking a switch at the side of the unit. Once you’ve found the file or folder your looking for, select the play option and that’s all there is to it.

The Cruzer is surprisingly well featured for such a small device, there are a number of graphic equaliser pre-sets to choose from and you can even set the graphic equaliser yourself — a function that some of the larger Hard Drive based Mp3 players still do not have.
Despite its size, the Cruzer doesn’t short change you when it comes to playing your music files — they sound great. I really only have one gripe with this device and that is battery life. I found that I was lucky to get about 3.5 hours playing time from 1 AAA battery. I blame the flashing blue LED. As it strobes between every track played, it eventually becomes irritating and distracting. And not only that, it must be a contributing factory to the fast depletion of the
battery.

This is still a great MP3 player if you’re on a budget and don’t feel you need to have your entire music collection in your pocket. And with its small size, you should have room about your person to carry the pack of replacement batteries that you will surely need.
