Hibernia Technology Group has merged with information technology solutions provider Evros to create a EUR*30 million turnover business with 80 employees and offices in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Kildare and Limerick.
Bob Murray, who holds the title of joint managing director at Hibernia Technology Evros Group with former Evros boss Caroline Godsill, claimed the merger would not create redundancies.
Godsill said the firms would be looking for better quality and faster services, along with improved efficiencies at a competitive price as the economy slowed. “We believe we are better placed to offer those improvements through our new company,” she added.
Staff at Evros’ Dublin office will move into Hibernia’s Cherrywood offices, which will become the headquarters for the new company.
The merged firm will have over 50 engineers which, it says, will enable it to “offer services to larger Irish and multinational enterprises within Ireland, and also to enter into the UK marketplace and further abroad”.
Hibernia Technology already operates as a partner for Avocent International in Shannon and has appointed an agent in London to drive the technology into Britain. "While initial orders have been small, we expect these seeds to establish themselves quickly,” Murray said, adding that Avocent product and support had won the company business in Scandinavia, France and Austria.
Murray predicted natural consolidation would continue in the Irish channel, with mergers and acquisitions becoming part of the landscape.
Former Hibernia directors Brian Larkin and John Kennedy have been appointed as operations director and sales director repectively of the merged company.
