Northgate, the London-listed technology services group is helping the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS) to collect, test and distribute over 70,000 blood donation packs throughout the province. In addition to its headquarters at Belfast City Hospital the Transfusion Service operates three mobile units at over 300 locations.

The service, in partnership with Northgate, identified the need for improved ICT systems support. Now, Northgate’s new service desk infrastructure is helping NIBTS to ensure the smooth processing and delivery of blood supplies.
Managed by a specialist Northgate team, the service desk acts as the first point of contact for NIBTS staff, ensuring IT problems are dealt with quickly. Support extends to servers, PCs and laptops, as well as the provision of remote and telephone support for the mobile blood donor units.

The transfusion service’s IT manager, Stephen Brimstone, said the service desk has had an instant impact. “IT issues are resolved quickly and effectively by Northgate, leaving our staff to focus on the core work of providing blood products and services to hospitals.”
