After 25 years as managing director of Datapac, during which time he built it up into a EUR*65m turnover business employing 220 people, David Laird has left the company he led from its incep-tion. Laird revealed he was not leaving to take up another post but planned to look at his options over the coming months to “see what opportunities are there”.

Commenting on his resignation, he said: “You build a business over a period of time and manage a team, [then] it becomes time to move on. Twenty-five years is certainly long enough in one organi-sation.” Laird planned to keep his options open. “It’s a completely new scene for me. The obvious thing to do would be to stay in the industry, but time will tell.

I will definitely look outside the industry and within the industry.” In a statement, Dan Kickham, managing director of The DKG Group, which owns Datapac, said: “I would like to thank David for his contribution during his years with Datapac, and wish him well for the future.”
