Dr Jim Mountjoy, founder of networking specialist Euristix which was sold twice within a few months at the height of the ‘dot.com’ boom has been named Industry Personality of the Year at the ICT Excellence awards.
Held in Jury’s Hotel, Ballsbridge Dublin in April, the awards recognised outstanding contribution and performance in the local ICT industry over the past year. Mountjoy, who is currently chairman of the Prospectus Consultancy Group, is also involved in a non-executive capacity with a number of early stage companies in the Information and Communications Technologies space and is a Board Member of Science Foundation Ireland.
The company he founded, Euristix, became a market leader in its area of advanced network-management software for the telecommunications industry and was sold to Fore Systems for $80m in February 1999, a value that increased to $175m in two months when Fore Systems was acquired by Marconi.
