Belfast-based JamPot Technologies, the company behind www.TheAppBuilder.com, has been named as The People’s Choice European Tech Start-up 2012. JamPot was awarded the title at the Microsoft BizSpark European Summit in London on yesterday having seen off competition from 14 finalists from around Europe.
James Scott, CEO of JamPot Technologies (pictured), said: "This is an incredible achievement for the JamPot team. We have been developing our flagship product, TheAppBuilder – which lets anyone create their own mobile app for free – for the past year. Our drive has been fuelled by the belief that everyone should be able to create their own mobile app, no matter what their level of technical ability, for use on any mobile device.
"Being voted as Europe’s top tech start-up by the public is an amazing achievement as it demonstrates that businesses, groups and individuals are really enjoying using TheAppBuilder to create their mobile apps. It takes an excellent service experience to motivate a consumer to vote in such a contest and we are thrilled that over 11,000 think so highly of TheAppBuilder and took the time to vote."
JamPot was also named as runner-up in the Microsoft Panel Award for The European Tech Start-up Company of the Year. This parallel award is decided by a panel of independent judges who summarised that the technical and market impact delivered by TheAppBuilder to a global user base was remarkable in such a short period of time.
Scott continues, "The awards have capped off a wonderful three months for JamPot since launching TheAppBuilder at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona. In this time more than 30,000 apps have been created using TheAppBuilder, and with the recent introduction of a free web app service this number is increasing dramatically."
TheAppBuilder is an online self-service tool for creating mobile apps. Users can create their app using the intuitive app editor and then select a publishing plan for distribution. This includes the recently introduced free plan, which enables users to instantly publish their app as a Web app.
Submission of apps to the Apple AppStore, Android Store and Windows Phone Marketplace is another option; as is the Private Apps service which can be used for internal organization communication with employees and customers.
