Securing Business won best European security podcast at the fifth annual European Security Blogger Awards, announced at Infosecurity Europe in London.

The podcast is a joint work by security expert and TechFire speaker Brian Honan, journalist Gordon Smith and Matt Houlihan from the International Radio Company.

The fortnightly podcast discusses the latest news in cybersecurity and cybercrime and its implications for business, with insights and experiences from Honan and his work with BH Consulting, as well as IRISS-CERT, the SANS Institute and the Cloud Security Alliance.

“I have to be honest, we were surprised and delighted to win the award because we only started the podcast this year,” said Smith. “We expected it would take some time to build up some traction, so it was fantastic to have won a public vote.

“Our guiding idea for the show was not to blind people with science but to explain cybersecurity in an accessible way. For that, huge credit goes to Brian Honan for his expert commentary, and to the producer Matt Houlihan for knitting it all together. Thanks also to the guest contributors like Mikko Hypponen, Lance Spitzner, Ciaran McMahon and Marcin Kleczynski, who have helped to make the show what it is.”

The awards are nominated and voted for by the public, with votes added by judges including Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame member Jack Daniel, journalists Matthew Schwartz and John Leyden, and others.

The podcast is available on Soundcloud.
