Introducing ERP for SMEs

Drogheda-based European Software Solutions has launched a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) product aimed at small and medium-sized companies. Eworks is built around Pegasus Opera accounts and includes full e-commerce, logistics and manufacturing management facilities. It may be purchased as a complete system or in parts as needed to grow with a business. Tony Rooney of ESS says ‘We have a lot of experience supplying customers in the food, furniture, and metal fabrication sectors, and this package is perfect for running any of these types of business. We are currently offering the package at a special introductory rate to publicise it, and to help us to strengthen our user-list.’

Sherry Furniture of Monaghan has just updated its ERP system to Eworks. The company’s MD Brenda Sherry comments, ‘The flexibility offered by the load building option was our main attraction to the Eworks software suite. With a large number of individual accounts the ability to organise an efficient delivery pattern is our key business requirement. As Opera was already our accounting package, Eworks fits very easily into our way of working.’

Eworks is built in three parts: Distribution at the front end, with manufacturing, and accounts at the back-end. The distribution module includes full logistics facilities, with load-building, returns management, and EDI (electronic invoicing), all playing their part in automating the distribution process for Sherry Furniture. The Logistics module facilitates producing an accurate production plan for the finished goods area. It also provides an easy-to-use facility to manage loads, deliveries, collections and replacements. The EDI module facilitates receipt of orders and the transmission of invoices electronically either in XML format or using conventional EDI formats.

The manufacturing package is built around a solid flexible Bill-of-Materials, and includes full process definition, work-order management, material and process scheduling. The system also includes a Product Configurator which facilitates the painless processing of orders for non-standard products. In addition, interfaces are available to external material, linking software and real-time production monitoring systems.
