In our experience, the cloud services that hold the greatest proven value are SaaS applications and cloud services around data protection and management. Many organisations we work with have found that by using a high quality managed cloud service, they are realising huge benefits in terms of reduced business risk, more efficient use of their own IT staff’s time and most are saving a lot of money on CapEx related costs.Having critical business functions like back-up and DR run as a fully managed cloud service also holds the most value because of the capability to back up and archive data from SaaS based applications as well as in-house systems. In fact, a growing number of customers are looking for more joined-up services; so we really get entire data processes running on cloud services.

For example, we now have customers using Office 365 with a smart archiving solution for email sitting beside it. The archive email data is held in our cloud storage platform and there is also a full backup held in the cloud. Having the entire email environment in the cloud – all backed up and archived in the cloud too, delivers massive levels of convenience, flexibility and cost efficiency.

We have also seen a growing number of companies using cloud file sync and share services to simplify processes that involve dealing with suppliers and sub-contractors in a secure environment that is not using their own network or storage resources.

These types of cloud services are adding real value to the business and are simplifying many tasks that would otherwise be very time consuming and expensive to build in house.
