Havok scores gaming hat trick

Havok, the Emmy award winning Irish technology company, has won the annual Game Developer Front Line Award for its pioneering middleware product Havok Physics. This is the third year in a row that Havok has won the prestigious industry award.

Havok Physics was chosen as the winning entry in the Middleware category. Entries are nominated by members of the game development community and readers of Game Developer magazine and are judged on a number of criteria, including utility, innovation, value and ease of use.

Havok’s technology has been used to drive visual effects in over 300 titles including Halo Reach, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Epic Mickey, Fallout New Vegas, Uncharted 2, Demon’s Soul and Bioshock 2. A further 130 games are in development.

David Coghlan, managing director of Havok, said: “Winning a Game Developer Front Line Award for a third year in a row is a fantastic accolade for the company. Havok’s customers have delivered a stunning line-up of titles using our technology over the past 12 months and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them and to thank all in the industry who voted for us again this year.”
