The TravelMate 740LF notebook from Acer is powered by an Intel Pentium III processor and has an integrated 512Kbyte L2 cache.
The 740LF includes an Intel 830MP chipset, which provides a 133MHz processor system bus and an ATI Mobility Radeon M6-SVGA controller that offers 16Mbyte of DDR RAM.
This Travelmate comes with a 15inTFT display and a 3D audio system with two flat panel speakers built into the lid cover. It also has an embedded wake-on-LAN, 10/100 Mbps fast Ethernet connection and a 56K ITU V.90 data/fax modem.
An optional Acer InviLink IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN PC card is also available for use in the unit’s CardBus slots.
The 740LF includes a 20Gbyte enhanced IDE hard drive, built-in floppy drive, hot swappable CD-RW/DVD combo drive and two USB ports. To guard against unauthorised use, the notebook comes with Authen Tec, a new fingerprint recognition system that scans more than 9,000 individual elements to create an accurate digital pattern of the fingerprint’s underlying structure.
The TravelMate 740LF contains a single Li-Ion battery providing up to four hours of battery life and comes preloaded with Microsoft Windows 2000.
