German firm signs with Irish distributor

Trade-only computing distributor Ethos Technology has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with German manufacturer Lancom Systems, which specialises in IP-based VoIP, VPN, WAN and WLAN hardware.

The two firms say they have joined forces to capitalise on the growth in WLAN & VPN communication solutions in Ireland. The deal will give Lancom access to increased sales potential through Ethos’s expertise in the Irish IT trade, according to their announcement.

Ethos sales director Margaret Higgins noted: “Having a diversified product range is crucial (in Ireland’s changed distribution landscape) to the future success of our company. The Lancom suite of products is a great fit for us”. She said the range would complement the existing Ethos range, and would be a catalyst to open up new opportunities in 2009.

Lancom System’s country manager Ian Holt said: “We see great opportunities for our professional class business connectivity and wireless products in Ireland. Ethos brings local market knowledge and a true value-add proposition for Lancom resellers and customers.

Ethos Technology, set up in 2000, provides hardware to IT companies all over Ireland. Partners include Cisco, Promise, and TRENDnet.

Lancom Systems makes network components for large enterprises and SMEs, public authorities and institutions. It also supplies products and software for IP-based VPN, VoIP and wireless networks, along with support and services.
