Asus Transformer Book Chi

Asus is taking orders for the latest version of its Transformer Book Chi hybrid laptops, which can convert into tablet mode with detachable keyboards.

Asus Transformer Book ChiThe T100 Chi (pictured) has a 10.1″ IPS touch screen with 1920×1200 resolution, quad-core Intel Atom Z3775 1.46GHz processor, 2Gb of RAM, and a choice of 32Gb or 64Gb of storage.

The tablet alone measures 0.3″ thick and weighs .6kg, and becomes 0.5″ thick and 1.1kg with the keyboard dock. Asus is advertising up to 10 hours of battery life for this model.

The T300 Chi has a 12.5″ 1080p display, 2GHz Intel Core M 5Y10 processor, 4Gb RAM, and 128Gb of storage. There’s also an a model with a 2.9GHz processor, 2560×1440 resolution display and 8Gb RAM.

Both T300 variants measure 0.3″ thick and .7kg for the tablet, going up to 0.6″ thick and 1.45kg with the keyboard.
Support for an active stylus pen is also included – though there’s no word on price or what technology it uses – and Asus says it gets up to eight hours of battery life.

Both models come with one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, Micro-HDMI, microSD and a 2MP front camera. The T100 also includes a 5MP rear-facing camera, and includes a year’s subscription to Office 365 Personal.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed for this side of the Atlantic but Asus is positioning these in the tablet and Chrombook spaces, starting at $399.

Teufel Concept E 450 DigitalTeufel Concept E 450 Digital

German company Teufel is going after the gaming market with the Concept E 450 sound system, although one would wonder who would have the pocket money to splash on this impressive package.

The 500W, 501 surround sound system comes with a large 65 litre subwoofer enclosure, integrated sound card for notebooks and PCs, analogue and digital inputs with Dolby decoder and an integrated amplifier, negating the need for additional tuners or amps.

Wireless connectivity comes via Bluetooth and the whole thing can be controlled by a handy ‘puck’ remote.

Sandberg Powerbank 6000

Sandberg has released two new Powerbank chargers. Named after their mAh capacity, the 6000 (pictured here) and 12000 both have 5V input at 1000mA and 5V Sandberg Powerbank 6000output at 3100mA and can charge two devices simultaneously by USB through one of two USB A ports and one miniUSB port. It’s worth noting that not all USB ports are made equal, with one capable of delivering 2100mAh for larger devices like iPads and the other outputs 1000mAh, which would be more suitable to smartphones and digital cameras.

The different capacities do affect charging times. The 6000 charges in 6-7 hours and the 1200 takes up to 14 hours through an AC adapter – you don’t get one in the box but you do get a miniUSB cable you can plug into your mobile phone’s charger.

The 1200 adds an LCD display and an LED torch but we were more than happy with our pocket-friendly Powerbank 6000 tester with its four power indicator lights.

Price: €57.99 (6000), €69.99 (1200)
