Folens spin-off company to create 25 jobs

Irish educational publisher Folens has announced 25 jobs are to be created in Dublin over the next 24 months with the establishment of a spin-off online and mobile learning company, Apierian.

Folens Group managing director, John Cadell said: "The creation of this new company has been planned for sometime and is a testament to Folens long term vision for the future of Irish education. We are all looking forward to bringing together our experience in creating quality educational content with our investments in education technology to help more learners reach their potential."

Headed by Folens Group product director Brian Halpin, Apierian has already been investing in the development of a new range of personalised and adaptive educational products.

The company has also confirmed it has started engagement with Enterprise Ireland to develop these products intially for the UK followed by other international markets.

The announcement is the latest in a series of developments at the Folens Group which has seen its acquistion of educational resources company Carroll Education and the establishment of another subsidiary, LeaF investments which provides venture capital for start up companies in the educational technology area.

The announcement brings the total directly employed by the Folens Group to over 100 people.
