The Tesla board has issued a strong denial regarding reports suggesting they are looking for a replacement for CEO Elon Musk. The Wall Street Journal initially claimed, citing unnamed sources, that the board had become frustrated with Musk’s involvement in President Trump’s administration and Tesla’s falling stock price.

The report claimed that the board had instructed Musk to devote more time to Tesla and made a public commitment to that effect. However, Tesla refuted these claims in a statement, calling the Journal’s reporting “absolutely false”.

Robyn Denholm, Tesla’s president, further emphasised on social media platform X that the report was inaccurate and that the board had communicated this directly to the media prior to publication. Denholm reiterated that the board has full confidence in Musk’s ability to lead Tesla through its future growth plans.

Elon Musk himself went to X to express his disapproval of the Journal’s coverage, calling it a “DELIBERATELY FALSE ARTICLE” and an “EXTREMELY BAD BREACH OF ETHICS”. He criticised the publication for not including Tesla’s denial before publishing the article and even posted a comment from another user labeling the Wall Street Journal as “garbage”.
