While some IT firms felt a judder as the economy lurched into the slow lane, 247meeting has been cruising through the closure of deals worth more than EUR250k over the next five years.

The Irish firm, which specialises in providing conference call services, has recently completed contracts with Hertz Europe, Sogeti Ireland and Irish law firm O’Donnell Sweeney Eversheds.

The service provider claims the deals will see the new clients save up to 66% on their existing conference call costs over the next half decade as they use 247meeting’s automated global conference calling service.

From 247’s viewpoint, the deals provide a solid base from which it can expand its business, which was launched in May by Gavan Doherty, managing director.

Doherty’s firm routes national and international calls across its own network and through the internet. The MD says many of his competitors rely on “old-fashioned telephone companies, which charge prohibitive prices for international conference calls.” The 247 service offers flat rates of 5c a minute from anywhere, and has local landline access numbers in over 50 countries.

Sogeti Ireland’s senior IT consultant, Simon Bradbury, noted: “As part of a global organisation, we depend heavily on our communications infrastructure. We must have high quality, reliable and easy-to-access teleconferencing solutions to connect with colleagues from across Europe and the US.” Bradbury said 247meeting’s global flat-rate “keeps our costs to a minimum.”

Doherty described the recent deals as “a milestone in 247meeting’s growth strategy.” 247meeting aims to provide low cost conference call services by automating simple tasks such as quotations, account creation and viewing bills.
